Admission Requirements for Early Childhood Education

O’Level Subject Combination and Requirements
To be qualified to study Early Childhood Education, you are required to possess not less than five (5) SSC credit passes in the required subjects. Be informed that English Language happens to be one of the compulsory subjects that can not be discarded.
Also note that the O’Level subjects are not limited to just WAEC, but also include NECO, GCE, and their equivalent. Below are the required five (5) O’Level subjects for Early Childhood Education.
1). English Language.
2). And any other for four (4) subjects.
WAIVER/SPECIAL CONSIDERATION
1). EKSU requires that the five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes should not be in more than one (1) sitting, and the subjects must include English Language and ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics.
2). IBADAN – Same as in Special Education.
3). UNIBEN requires Teachers Certificate Grade II merit. Or five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes which must include Mathematics, English Language, and Arts subject and any Science subject.
4). TASUED does not require ‘O’ Level credit in Mathematics.
5). JOS accepts five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes that must include English Language, Biology/Health Science, and ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics at not more than two (2) sittings.
6). IAUED requires an ‘O’ Level credit pass in Mathematics.
7). LAGOS accepts five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, and any three (3) subjects.
8). KWASU requires ‘O’ Level credit passes in Mathematics, one Science subject, and any other two (2) subjects.

JAMB Subject Combination and Requirement
The JAMB UTME subject combination for Early Childhood Education will include English Language. One of the things you need to note is that you are required to score not less than 180 in your JAMB UTME examination to be qualified to study early Childhood Education in any of the Universities listed below.
We usually urge our candidates to aim for 200 and above to stand a better chance of being admitted based on merit. If you should score anything below 180, then you will probably try other means of gaining admission into a University such as IJBM, JUBEB, ND, or Predegree.

There are usually three (3) subjects that you will meet in your JAMB UTME subjects for Early Childhood Education and you can find them below.

WAIVER/SPECIAL CONSIDERATION
1). IAUED requires three science subjects; one (1) relevant Science and two (2) other Science subjects.
2). LASU accepts any three (3) subjects.
3). EKSU requires three (3) subjects, one (1) from Arts, one (1) from Social Sciences, and one (1) from Sciences.
4). KWASU accepts Mathematics and any other two (2) subjects.
5). UNIBEN requires any three (3) subjects from Social Sciences/Arts/ Science subject (optional).

Direct Entry Admission Requirements
Should in case you don’t want to use UTME to apply for admission to study Early Childhood Education in any of the Nigerian Universities listed below, then you have to fulfill the direct entry admission requirements to study Early Childhood Education.
1). Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes which must be from relevant subjects.
WAIVER/SPECIAL CONSIDERATION
1). KWASU accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes/IJMB or their equivalents. They require that one (1) of the passes must be in a relevant subject and teaching subjects in the secondary school system in addition to the UTME requirements.
2). UNIBEN requires IJMB, NCE in addition to five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes that must include English Language and ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics.
3). EKSU requires NCE merit in Biology and Health Education or integrated Science in addition to UTME requirements. EKSU also accepts PHE at the upper credit level in addition to UTME requirements.
4). LAGOS accepts:
A). Merit/NCE credit in Primary Education Studies and any other teaching subject.
B). Very good passes in three (3) JUPEB subjects in Social Sciences, Arts, or Sciences except for Commerce, Typing, and Shorthand.
C). Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes which must be in relevant subjects in Arts, Sciences and Social Sciences except for Social Sciences, Arts, or Sciences except Commerce and Typing.
D). Candidates must also satisfy the UTME requirements.
5). IBADAN requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes/ NCE merit in Pre-Primary/Primary Education plus one (1) approved Teaching subject.
6). TASUED accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes/NCE merit/credit in Primary Education Studies plus one (1) approved Teaching subject.
A). NCE merit in addition to UTME requirements.
B). Good passes in two (2) subjects which must be in one (1) sitting at HSC or ‘A’ Level.
C). ND upper credit in addition to UTME requirements.
