JAMB UTME Subject Combination

Just as we promised above, we are going to be listing the three compulsory and required subjects that you are going to see in your UTME examination. Below are the three vital O’level subjects that you will meet in your UTME examination for Drama / Dramatic / Performing Arts which is under the Faculty of Arts & Humanities. Please note that English Language is compulsory for this course even if it is not mentioned below.

1). UNIBEN accepts any two (2) Arts Subjects and another subject.
2). ABU requires Literature in English and other relevant subjects.
3). OAU requires Literature in English in addition to another Arts subject and any other subject.
4). LASU requires another Arts subject in addition to any Arts or Social Science subject. ILORIN accepts Science subjects.

O’Level Subject Combination

All candidates aspiring to study Drama / Dramatic / Performing Arts in any Nigerian University are required to possess not less than five (5) SSC credit passes. Below are the required O’Level (NECO, GCE, WAEC) subjects for Drama / Dramatic / Performing Arts.

1). English Language.
2). Literature in English.
3). And any other three (3) Arts subjects.

WAIVER/ SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

1). UNIBEN requires LiteratureinEnglish and one (1) Arts subject.

2). UNIPORT requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in Literature in English, English Language, and any two (2) other Arts or Social Science subjects.

3). ABU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes which must include to include Literature in English, English Language,  and other subjects from Arts or Social Sciences.

4). DELSU requires an ‘O’ level credit pass in Literature in English.

5). UNIABUJA accepts five (5) credit passes in Literature in English, Mathematics, English Language, and any other two (2) subjects.

6). LASU accepts five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes which must include Literature in English, English Language in addition to other Arts/Social Science subjects.

7). OAU accepts Five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes which must include Literature in English, English Language in addition to one (1) Arts subject and any other two (2) subjects.

Direct Entry Admission Requirements

Below are all the conditions you must meet if you want to apply to study Drama / Dramatic / Performing Arts directly without going through the UTME process.

A). You are required to have two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Arts, Social Sciences, or Science subjects.

WAIVER/ SPECIAL CONSIDERATION:

1). LASU requires;
i). NCE merit in Communication Arts or Theatre/Performing/Creative Arts from a recognized institution in addition to the five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes.  The five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes must include English Language which will not be in more than two (2) sittings.
ii). A recognized certificate in Dramatic Arts in addition to one (1) other certificates from the faculty of Humanities and it must be from a recognized Institution or ‘A’ level pass in any other subject plus 5 ‘O’ level credit passes which will include English Language.

2). ABU accepts;
i). Two (2) ‘A’ level passes or NCE in Mass Communication, Performing Arts, Journalism, Music, and Dance, Creative Arts, Literature in English, or any Nigerian Language at IJMB.
ii). General English/Use of English at NCE satisfies the UTME requirements.
iii). Candidates with ND are to also have an ‘O’ level credit pass in Literature in English.

3). UNIBEN, OAU, and DELSU require an ‘A’ level pass in Literature in English.

4). UNIABUJA accepts;
i). upper credit or a minimum of ten (10) points in NCE plus the UTME requirements OR two (2) ‘A’ level passes which must include Literature in English and one (1) other Arts subject.
ii). ND upper credit or NCE merit in Theatre Arts with four (4) ‘O’ level credit passes.

5). NDU accepts NCE merit OR ‘A-level pass’ in Literature in English and one (1) other art subjects, Theatre Arts or Fine and Industrial Arts.

6). UNIBEN accepts two (2) ‘A’ level passes in HSC or GCE or its equivalent in any two (2) Arts subjects. They also accept NCE merit in Music which must be from a recognized institution.

7). DELSU requires a certificate in Drama, Theater Arts – Mass Communication, and Music. They also require ‘A’ level passes which must include Literature in English, English Language, in addition to the UTME requirements.

8). UNIPORT – No Direct Entry.

9). OAU accepts two (2) ‘A’ level passes and requires that one (1) should include Yoruba or Literature in English.

10). DELSU accepts ND upper credit in Theatre Arts and NCE merit in Music, ‘A’ level passes in two (2) Arts subjects.
