O’Level Subjects & Admission Requirements
Direct Entry and UTME candidates are required to have at least five (5) SSC credit passes in the following subjects required to study Education and Social Science. Below are the Education and Social Science subjects in WAEC, NECO, GCE, and their equivalent.
1). English Language.
4). And two (2) subjects from Social science or Arts subject.
A). UNN requires:
i). Five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes which must include English Language, a science subject and the subject to be combined with education.
ii). Credit pass in Government for Education/Political science”.
iii). A credit pass in Economics and Mathematics for Education/Economics.
iv). For Social Studies/Education, you require a credit pass in three Social science or Arts subjects.
v). Credit in Geography, plus any other three subjects and a pass in mathematics for Education/Geography.
B). NDU requires five O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, and English Language, and any other three (3) subjects, two of which must be social science subjects gotten in not more than two sittings.
C). EBSU requires credit pass in Mathematics.
D). UNIPORT requires subjects relevant to Teaching. They also require Mathematics for Economics Accounting and Political Science and they also require History or Government.
JAMB Subject Combination for Education and Social Sciences
For all the UTME candidates who want to know the proper social science subjects in JAMB, we will see that below. They are three (3) in number and they include the following O’level subjects:

A). UNN requires:
i). For Education/Geography, UNN requires Geography, English Language, and any other two (2) subjects
ii). For Education/Political Science, they require Government, English Language, and any other two subjects.
iii). For Education/Social Studies, you require English Language, plus any other three Social Science/Arts subjects.
iv). For Education/Economics, you require Mathematics, Economics, English Language, and any other Social Science subject.

Direct Entry Admission Requirements for Education and Social Sciences
If you are among those who don’t intend to apply to study education and social sciences in any higher institution in Nigeria using UTME, then ensure that you meet the Direct Entry admission requirements. Below are the direct entry requirements for education and social sciences.
A). NCE in two (2) relevant subjects.
B). Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in relevant subjects.
A). Candidates with ND at distinction, merit levels, and credit in other disciplines who also meet the University Minimum entry requirement in addition to at least relevant credit passes in NECO, WASSCE, and O ‘level may be offered admission. Nevertheless, they will run the 4-Year program.
B). NDU – Same as Vocational and Technical Education.
C). UNN requires:
i). UTME requirement, in addition, to two (2) “A’ level passes which must be in relevant subjects and must include candidates proposed course.
ii). NCE credit/merit passes in addition to TC II or ‘O’ level credit in relevant subjects.
iii). Also, note that all “Candidates must satisfy the UTME requirements.
D). EBSU accepts NCE Social Studies.
