O’Level Subjects & Requirements

JAMB Subjects and requirements for Technical Education

The O’level (NECO, GCE, WAEC) subject combination and requirements needed to study Technical Education are listed. UTME candidates are required to have at least five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in relevant subjects which should include:

1). English Language.
2). Mathematics or (NTC/NBC).
3). Any three ()

UNIVERSITY SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

1). UNIZIK accepts a pass in ‘O’ Level English Language.

2). MAUTECH accepts TC II.

3). UNIBEN requires Mathematics and other subjects chosen from Chemistry, Physics, Technical Drawing, Applied Electricity, Basic Electronics, and Woodwork.

4). RSUST requires an ‘O’ Level credit pass in Physics.

5). AAUA requires at least five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include Physics, English, Chemistry, Mathematics, and any one (1) Science or Social Science subject.

6). DELSU accepts at least five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes which must include Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry or Physics, and any other two (2) subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.

7). IAUE requires ‘O’ Level credit passes in Physics and Technical Drawing. Accepts WAEC, City and Guilds, and Federal Craft Training Certificate.

8). For Agricultural Science, EBSU accepts Biology or Agriculture Science in addition to Chemistry and one (1) other subject.

9). RSUST accepts NCE General English and Basic Mathematics in place of ‘O’ Level credit passes in Mathematics and English   Language.

10). NDU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language, Physics, and any two (2) Science subjects.

11). UNIUYO requires ‘O’ Level credit passes in Chemistry and English Language.

12). UNILAG also requires ‘O’ Level credit passes in Physics/Technical Drawing and any other science/technical subjects.

13). TASUED requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes at one (1) sitting or six (6) ‘O’ Level credit passes at two (2) sittings in relevant subjects which should include Mathematics, English Language, and any three (3) of Technical Drawing, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Applied Electricity, Basic Electronics, Woodwork, Welding and Fabrication Engineering, Auto Parts Merchandising, Building, Metal Work and auto mechanics, Air Conditioning and Refrigerator, Craft Practice, Electrical Installation and Maintenance Work, Plumbing and Pipe Fitting, Blocklaying and Concrete Work, Furniture Making, Carpentry, and Joinery, or NTC/NBC subjects. A pass in Chemistry is also required.

JAMB UTME Subject & Requirements For Technical Education

UTME candidates should note that English Language is a Compulsory subject for Technical Education. So, below are the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations required for Technical Education which is under the Faculty of Education:

1). Chemistry.
2). Mathematics.
3). Physics.

UNIVERSITY SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

1). AAUA accepts  Mathematics/Physics and any two (2) Science or Social Science subjects.

2). UNIBEN requires any Science subject in place of Chemistry.

3). UNILAG requires Mathematics, Physics/Technical Drawing, and any other Technical/Science subjects.

4). DELSU accepts Mathematics, Chemistry or Physics, and any other Social Science/Arts/Science subjects.

5). TASUED requires Mathematics, English Language, and any two (2) Science subjects.

6). UNIZIK accepts Physics, Mathematics, and any other subject.

7). IAUE requires Physics and one (1) Science subject or Geography, Technical Drawing or Economics.

Direct Entry Admission Requirements For Technical Education

UTME candidates who want to study Technical Education through Direct Entry should ensure they meet all the conditions you need to satisfy to gain Direct Entry admission to study Technical Education. Direct Entry candidates require:

i). NCE merit in two (2) relevant Science subjects plus the UTME requirements.

ii). Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics.

UNIVERSITY SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

1). DELSU, IAUE, and MAUTECH accept any of the following qualifications into the 200 level if they satisfy the UTME requirements. (i) HND/ND in Science or Engineering; (b). City and Guilds Full Technological Certificate.

2). UNIBEN accepts City AND Guilds final or Engineering Technicians Certificate (Part II), in addition to three (3) ‘O’ Level credit passes which must include Mathematics and English Language at one (1) sitting.

3). DELSU accepts at least a merit pass in NCE or Upper credit OND Technical Education in any combination of Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.

4). UNIUYO accepts HND (lower credit) and ND (upper credit) in relevant programs or equivalents in Science or Engineering.

5). MAUTECH accepts NCE Technical/Science merit in relevant subjects in addition to the UTME requirements.

6). AAUA  accepts the following:
i). ‘A’ Level passes in Physics and Mathematics and relevant Studies.
ii). ND lower credit in Production and Civil Engineering.
iii). Final City and Guilds or equivalent in addition to the National Technical Certificate.
iv). NCE merit/NABTEB which must include credit in Mathematics and Physics.
v). City and Guilds Engineering Technicians Part II certificate.
vi). ND credit in Computer Education, Physics, Computer science, and Mathematics.

7). AAU and RSUST accept the following qualifications into 200 level program if they also satisfy the UTME requirements:
i). NCE Technical/Science.
ii). Associate Degree in Science or Technology.
iii). ND/HND in Science Engineering.
iv). City and Guilds Full Technological Certificate. NCE Technical Education, Advanced Technical Certificate with three (3) related ‘O’ Level subjects, while ND in Technical Courses.

8). TASUED accepts NCE merit in two (2) relevant Science subjects in addition to the UTME requirements or ND/HND (upper credit) in Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical Engineering, or Building Technology.

9). MAUTECH accepts NCE merit in relevant subjects. It also accepts an ‘A’ Level passes in related subjects.

10). UNIBEN:
A). Requires two (2) or three (3) NCE merit including Technical Education in addition to three (3) or two (2) ‘O’ Level credit passes which must include Mathematics and English Language at one (1) sitting.
B). They accept Advanced National Teachers’ Certificate in relevant Studies in addition to five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes which should include English Language.
C). Two (2) NCE merit in Chemistry/Physics, Chemistry/Mathematics, or Mathematics/Physics in addition to three (3) ‘O’ Level credit passes which must include Mathematics and English Language at one (1) sitting.

11). NDU requires the Same as Vocational and Technical Education.

12). UNILAG accepts the following:
i). Very good passes in three (3) JUPEB subjects which must include Physics/ Technical Drawing and any other two (2) Science subjects.
ii). NABTEB/NTC Advanced.
iii). London City and Guilds of London Advanced.
iv). WAEC Technical Advanced.
v). NCE credit/merit in Technical/Technology Education, Woodwork/Building, Electrical/ Electronics, Auto Mechanical/Mechanical, and any other relevant Technical course plus the UTME requirements.
