O’Level Subjects & Requirements
Your O’Level subject combination plays a vital role in deciding if you are eligible to study this course of not. We are going to show you the proper O’Level (Neco, GCE, WAEC) subject combination for Mathematics. Candidates are required to have at least five (5) SSC credit passes in the following subject:
1). Mathematics.
2). English Language.
3). Physics.
4). Chemistry.
5). Any other one (1) science or social science subject.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION & REMARKS
1). ANSU, UNIZIK, and UNIMAID accept a pass in English Language.
2). ABSU and IMSU require Physics. While IMSU accepts a pass in English Language.
3). ABSU requires five (5) SSCE credit passes which must include Mathematics, English Language and Physics or Chemistry and any two (2) subjects.
4). ABU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include Mathematics, English Language and three (3) other subjects two of which must be from among Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Geography.
5). ADELEKE requires credit passes from Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Physics and Biology/Agricultural Science.
6). BAYERO does not accept Economics.
7). BELLS requires Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and one (1) Science subject.
8). BOWEN does not allow a combination of Agric. Science and Biology but accepts Mathematics and any other two (2) Science subjects.
9). CRESCENT requires either Physics or Chemistry plus Maths and also IJMB at acceptable grade levels.
10). CRUTECH, BOWEN, and KWARARAFA accept Physics, Mathematics and two (2) other Science subjects.
11). DELSU accepts Maths and any two (2) of Chemistry, Physics, Further Mathematics, and Biology.
12). EKSU and AAUA require a pass in Chemistry.
13). EVANGEL accepts credit passes in Mathematics, English Language and at least any three (3) subjects in the following order: Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Agricultural Science.
14). FED-LAFIA requires five credit passes at SSCE to include Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry.
15). FED-LOKOJA accepts five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology or Agricultural Science.
16). FUPRE requires five (5) SSCE credit passes to include Mathematics, English Language, Physics with two (2) other Science subjects from Further Mathematics, Chemistry. At least a pass in Biology and Chemistry is mandatory.
17). FUTA requires five (5) SSCE credit passes to include English Language, Physics and two other Science subjects.
18). FUTO requires at least five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and any other Science subject in not more than two sittings.
19). GODFREY requires five SSCE credit passes to include Maths, Chemistry, English Language, Biology, and Physics in not more than two sittings.
20). KASU requires Physics and does not accept Agric. Science and Economics.
21). KWASU requires credit passes from Mathematics, English Language, and any three (3) of Biology, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Agricultural Science.
22). LASU requires five (5) SSCE credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Physics, and anyone of Biology, Geography or Economics.
23). MOUA requires five (5) SSCE credit passes in not more than two sittings to include Chemistry, English Language, Physics, Mathematics, and any other relevant Science subject.
(24) NTNU accepts Mathematics, English, and any other three (3) Science subjects.
25). NDU requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Physics, and any other Science subjects.
26). NDA requires five O’ level credit passes from Mathematics, Physics, English Language, and any two (2) from Chemistry, Additional/Further Mathematics, Geography and Biology.
27). OAU accepts Mathematics, English Language, and any two of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Add. Mathematics.
28). OSUSTECH requires five (5) SSCE credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, in addition to at least two from Further Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology.
29). OSUSTECH requires credit passes in Physics, plus at least two from Chemistry, Biology and Further Mathematics.
30). PLASU and UNIOSUN accept five ‘O’ Level SSCE credit passes to include Mathematics, English Language, Physics to form the core subjects, with two credit passes in other relevant science subjects at not more than two sittings.
31). PAUL requires five SSCE credit passes to include Mathematics, English Language, Physics or Chemistry or Biology in not more than two sittings.
32). UNILAG requires credit passes in Mathematics, English, Further Mathematics, Physics, and anyone (1) of Geography, Chemistry, and Economics.
33). UNILORIN accepts Mathematics, Physics, and Biology.
34). UNIZIK accepts Economics in lieu of Chemistry/Physics.
35). UNIBEN, UNIOSUN, IGBINEDION, IMSU, and BSU accept Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and any other relevant science subject.
36). UNIBADAN requires 5 ‘O’ level credits passes to include Mathematics, English Language, and any two/three of Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Further Mathematics or Geography and other subjects as the 6th subject.
37). UNIBEN requires Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and one (1) of Agric. Science, Biology, Economics or Geography (for Mathematics). Meanwhile, Industrial Mathematics requires five O’ level credit passes to include Mathematics, English Language, and any three Geography.
38). UNIUYO requires Credit passes in Physics and Mathematics.
40). UNIPORT requires credit passes in Chemistry, Biology, and Physics.
41). UMYU requires five (5) credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, and Physics and any of Biology/Agricultural Science or Geography in not more than two sittings.
42). UNAAB requires five (5) SSCE credit passes to include Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics.
43). UNIABUJA accepts five (5) credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) and it must include Mathematics, English, and any other three (3) subjects preferably Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and Geography in that order.
44). SOUTHWESTERN requires five (5) SSCE credit passes to include Mathematics, English Language, and at least three (3) subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, Further Mathematics, Geography, and Economics.
45). TASU accepts credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, and at least two (2) of Physics, Economics, Chemistry, Statistics, Further Mathematics, and Geography.
46). WUSTO accepts:
i). Two “A” level passes in Mathematics and either Physics and/or Chemistry.
ii). Upper Credit passes in ND plus 5 Credits at WASC/GCE O’L / SSCE (or its equivalent).

These four (4) subjects UTME candidates are going to meet in their JAMB UTME examination. The four (4) JAMB UTME subject combination required to study Mathematics in any higher institution in Nigeria includes the following:

6). BOWEN, BINGHAM, DELSU, UNIPORT, MAUTECH, and EBSU require Maths and any two of Chemistry, Physics, and Biology. They don’t accept Geography.
7). CRESCENT accepts Geography.
8). CRUTECH requires Physics, Maths, and any of Chemistry, Geography, Biology.
9). CALEB accepts Mathematics and any two (2) Science subjects.
10). DELSU requires Maths, Economics and any Physics/Biology/Chemistry, Geography or Industrial Mathematics.
11). EVANGEL accepts Biology as one of the two (2) other subjects.
12). FED-DUTSE accepts Biology as one of the two (2) other subjects.
13). FUPRE requires Mathematics and two of Chemistry, Physics, and Biology or Agricultural Science.

Direct Entry Admission Requirements For Mathematics
Direct Entry candidates (i.e Those who don’t intend to apply for Mathematics via UMTE) are to satisfy the following Mathematics Direct Entry (DE) admission requirements below.
i). Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and any other science subject.
ii). NCE merit in Mathematics and one (1) of Chemistry, Physics or Economics.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION & REMARKS
1). ABSU accepts HND (lower credit) and ND (upper credit) in addition to the UTME requirements.
2). ABUJA accepts two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and either Chemistry and /or Physics OR NCE minimum 10 points with credit in Mathematics and another Science subject OR ND (upper credit) in the relevant program plus UTME requirements.
3). AL-HIKMAH accepts two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics.
4). AUE requires an ‘O’ level credit pass in Statistics or Mathematics at NCE.
5). AAUA as in Industrial Mathematics.
6). AUGUSTINE requires two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and Physics and/or Chemistry. It also accepts NCE with five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include Physics and Mathematics or equivalent.
7). ABU accepts:
i). ‘A’ level/IJMB passes in Mathematics and any two (2) of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, and Geography.
ii). NCE Mathematics and any of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Computer Science, and Geology.
8). BAYERO accepts Biology. But does not accept Economics.
9). BENIN accepts DME merit plus the UTME requirements.
10). BIU accepts NCE /ND (upper credit) in a relevant program.
11). BENIN plus UTME requirements accept the following:
i). HND (lower credit) or ND (upper credit) in Mathematics/Statistics or Science Laboratory Technology in relevant subjects.
ii). NCE merit with ‘O’ level credit pass in Physics or Mathematics.
12). BOWEN accepts ND/NCEIJMB/‘A’ level or approved equivalent in Mathematics and any one (1) of Biology, Economics, Chemistry, Statistics, and Physics.
13). BAYERO, BSU, GSU, EKSU, OAU, and AAU accept Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry. EKSU does not accept NCE for Direct Entry.
14). COOU and MAIDUGURI accept HND/ND in relevant programs.
15). EKSU, OOU, RSUST, MAUTY, and OAU do not accept NCE.
16). EVANGEL requires the second ‘A’ level pass to be either Chemistry or Physics. It does not accept Economics as a Science subject.
17). FUNAAB same as in Physics.
18). FED-DUTSE accepts IJMB with a minimum of eight (8) points and ND credit.
19). KWASU accepts the following:
i). Two (2) ‘A’ level passes or its equivalent. One (1) of the passes must be in a relevant subject.
ii). ND (upper credit) in a relevant program.
iii). HND (lower credit) in a relevant program.
iv). NCE credit in any relevant subject in addition to the necessary ‘O’ level requirements may be considered for Direct Entry Admission.
20). FED-DUTSINMA requires two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and any one (1) of Chemistry, Physics, Geography, or Economics. It also accepts NCE merit in Mathematics and one (1) of Chemistry, Physics or Economics or ND with good grades and relevant ‘O’ level subjects.
21). FED-OYEEKITI requires the following:
i). Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and any one (1) of Chemistry and Physics.
ii). ND (upper credit)/NCE in Mathematics/Statistics.
22). PLASU accepts:
i). Degree in any programme provided the candidate meets the UTME requirements.
ii). HND (lower credit) in relevant programs plus the UTME requirements.
iii). ND (lower credit) in a relevant program, in addition to the UTME requirements.
iv). IJMB minimum of seven (7) points with passes in relevant subjects in addition to the UTME requirements.
v). PLASU does not accept university diplomas and other diplomas not accredited by the relevant accrediting bodies.
23). RSUST accepts Physics and Mathematics.
24). ABSU, NDU, and IMSU – No Direct Entry Admission.
25). UMUDIKE requires ‘A’ level passes in Physics and Mathematics. It also accepts ND upper credit, HND into 200 level.
26). JOS and MAUTY accept ND upper credit in Computer Science.
27). BAUCHI, NDU, and MAUTY accept Economics.
28). LAGOS accepts very good passes in the following three (3) ’A’-level/JUPEB subjects: Mathematics, Physics, and anyone (1) of Biology, Chemistry, Geography, and Economics and also requires ‘O’ level credit pass in Further Mathematics. LAGOS does not accept NCE.
29). IGBINEDION and UDU accept ND credit in Computer Science or any other Mathematics – based subject.
30). FUTA accepts the following:
i). ‘A’ level passes or equivalent with ‘O’ level passes in Mathematics and any one (1) of Economics, Economics, Physics, Geography, and Chemistry.
ii). ND (upper credit) in Statistics and it must be from a recognized institution.
iii). NCE merit in Mathematics and any other Physical Science subject.
31). UYO accepts HND/ND in relevant programs in addition to the UTME requirements.
32). JOS does not accept ND in Computer Science and Statistics, Mathematics, and Geography.
33). UMYUK accepts NCE Mathematics and any one of Chemistry or Physics with a minimum of nine (9) points.
IJMB Mathematics and any other from Chemistry or Physics with a minimum of nine (9) points.
34). WESTERN-DEL same as in Industrial Mathematics.
35). IBADAN accepts two (2) ‘A’ level passes which must include Mathematics and any other Science subject OR NCE merit in Mathematics and any one (1) other approved Science subject.
36). DELSU requires ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and any Social Science Subjects for Industrial Mathematics.
37). LASU accepts Applied Mathematics and Pure Mathematics as separate subjects.
38). FUTO requires two (2) ‘A’ level passes which will not be below Grade C in Physics and Mathematics. It accepts ND/HND (upper credit) in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, and Computer Science. Candidates are also required to meet the UTME requirements. It does not accept NCE and First Degree.
38). MCPHERSON accepts ‘A’ level passes HND/ND/NCE or approved equivalent in Mathematics and any one (1) of Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Physics, and Statistics.
39). OSUSTECH require
i). Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and any one (1) of Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography, and Economics. ND distinction and credit in relevant programs.
40). NTNU – Same as in Computer Science.
