O’level Required Subjects for ARCHAEOLOGY
You are required to have five (5) SSC credit passes in the required O’Level subjects which will be listed below. The O’level subject combination that you are supposed to pass in your SSC is also applicable to NECO, GCE, WAEC, and their equivalent. Below is the NECO, GCE, and WAEC subject combination for Archaeology.
1). English Language
2). And one (1) of the following subjects, Geography, Religious Studies, History, and Economics.
WAIVER/SPECIAL CONSIDERATION
i). ABU requires 5 ‘O’ level credit passes which must include English Language and other Arts, Sciences, or Social Science subjects.
ii). JOS requires 5 ‘O’ level credit passes in the following subjects; English Language, Geography, History/Government, and any Arts/Social Sciences subjects.
iii). IBADAN requires 5 ‘O’ level credit passes at one (1) sitting or 6 ‘O’ level credit passes at two (2) sittings and the subjects must include English Language, Literature in English, History, Religious Studies, Government, Geography, Biology, Economics, Hausa/Igbo/Yoruba.
iv). UNN requires 5 ‘O’ level credit passes to include the English Language, a pass in Mathematics or its equivalent, and any Science subjects.
JAMB Required Subjects for Archaeology
First of all, you must note that the JAMB cut-off mark for this course is 180 for Universities, though we urge you to aim for 200 and above. The required JAMB subjects for Archaeology must include the English Language, and any three (3) relevant Science subjects.
WAIVER/SPECIAL CONSIDERATION
- UNN requires any 3 subjects.
- ABU accepts Government or History and 2 other subjects from Arts/Social Sciences or any 3 Science subjects.
Direct Entry Requirements for Archaeology
If you don’t intend to apply for admission to study Archaeology at any Nigerian University through UTME, then you must ensure you meet the Direct Entry Requirements for Archaeology below:
- Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Social Sciences or Arts and 1 Science subject.
WAIVER/SPECIAL CONSIDERATION
1). ABU accepts;
i). two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Arts/Science/Social Sciences at IJMB/NCE.
ii). General English/Use of English, NCE satisfies the ‘O’ level English Language requirement.
2). JOS accepts NCE Merit or ND lower credit.
3). UNN requires;
i). Two (2) ‘A’ level passes or ND/HND credit or NCE merit in addition to the UTME requirements.
ii). Candidates combining Archaeology with Science/Social Sciences must meet with the requirements in the respective programs.
4). IBADAN accepts ‘A’ level passes in any two (2) Arts subjects.
