WAEC (O’Level) Requirements
One of the things that qualify you to study Aquaculture and Fisheries Management is your O’Level subjects. You are required to have not less than five (5) SSC credit passes in the following subjects below;
1). Chemistry
2). Mathematics
3). English Language
4). Biology/Agricultural Science
5). Physics/Geography/Economics.
NOTE: The O’level subjects for Aquaculture and Fisheries Management apply to NECO, GCE, WAEC & their equivalent.
JAMB Subjects for Aquaculture & Fisheries Management
If you want to study Aquaculture and Fisheries Management at any University in Nigeria as a UTME candidate, then you must ensure that you score up to the JAMB cut-off mark which is 180 in the JAMB UTME examination.
The three (3) JAMB subject combination required to study Aquaculture and Fisheries Management which is under the Faculty of Agriculture is listed below;
1). Agricultural Science/Biology.
2). Chemistry.
3). Mathematics/ Physics.
WAIVER/SPECIAL CONSIDERATION
1). UI requires the 6th subject for candidates presenting two (2) ‘O’ level results should be either Economics or Geography.
2). FUNAAB requires;
i). At least ‘O’ level pass in Physics.
ii). Candidates with an ‘O’ level pass in Biology must have an ‘O’ level credit pass in Agricultural Science. They don’t accept Agric. Science in place of Biology.
iii). Credit passes in Mathematics, Biology, English Language, Chemistry, and Physics.
Requirements for Direct Entry
If you don’t intend to use UTME to gain admission into any Nigerian University to study Aquaculture and Fisheries Management, then you must ensure that you satisfy the Direct Entry admission requirement to study Aquaculture and Fisheries Management listed below;
- Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and Biology/Botany/Agric Science/Zoology/Physics.
WAIVER/SPECIAL CONSIDERATION
1). UI accepts; ND/NCE upper credit into 100 level with active participation in practical year program in Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries, Health, Animal Husbandry, and related programs. While HND upper credit into 200 level with exemption from the practical year program. They also accept ‘A’ level passes in Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Physics into 200 level with full participation in a practical year program.
2). FUNAAB Requires/accepts;
i). ND/HND upper credit in Agriculture which must be from a recognized institution in any 1 of Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Economics, Forestry, and Wildlife Management, Fisheries, Agricultural Technology in addition to the UTME requirements.
ii). Two (2) ‘ A’ level credit passes in Chemistry and one (1) of Physics, Botany/Zoology/Agricultural Science/Biology or Mathematics.
iii). NCE credit in Biology, Agricultural Science, Physics, or Chemistry in addition to the UTME requirements.
