O’LEVEL SUBJECTS AND REQUIREMENTS [UTME]

Below are the O’Level (NECO, GCE, WAEC) subjects and requirements for UTME candidates that want to study Geography under the faculty of Sciences. They are expected to have at least five (5)SSC credit passes which must include:
1). Geography.
2). Mathematics.
3). English Language.
4). And any other two (2) Science subjects.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

Below are some of the other requirements needed by some of the Universities listed above.

1). ABSU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, and any other three (3) subjects from Arts, Social Sciences, and Sciences.  An ‘O’ Level credit pass in Geography is compulsory.

2). ABU requires at least five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include Mathematics, English Language, Biology, Geography, and any other Science subject.

3). KASU accepts Five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes which must include English Language, Geography, Mathematics, and two (2) other Science subjects.

4). MINNA requires ‘O’ Level credit passes to include Mathematics, English Language, Geography, Physics, and anyone (1) of Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science, Government, or Economics.

5). OOU requires two (2) other Science subjects.

6). KASU only accepts Physics, Chemistry, or Biology as the other two (2) Science subjects.

7). IBADAN requires five (5) or six (6) ‘O’ Level credit passes at one (1) or two (2) sittings and it must include Geography, Mathematics, English Language, and any two (2) other Science subjects.

8). UNN requires at least five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include Geography, English Language, and any three (3) Arts or Social Science subjects and at least an ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics.

9). GSU accepts Economics.

10). GOUU requires two (2) other subjects from Arts or Social Sciences.

11). UMYUK offers two options:
Social Science Option– five (5) ‘ O’ level credit passes or its equivalent in Mathematics, English Language, Geography, and any two (2) of Economics, Government, Accounting, and Commerce.
Science Option
– five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes or its equivalent in Geography, Mathematics, English Language, and any two (2) of Physics, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, and Biology.

JAMB UTME SUBJECT COMBINATION FOR GEOGRAPHY

Below you will find the JAMB UTME subject combination required for GEOGRAPHY under the faculty of Sciences.

1). English Language(Compulsory for all Courses).
2). Geography.
3). Any two (2) of Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science, and Physics.

1). ABU requires Biology, Geography, and any other Science subject.
2). UNN requires Geography and any two (2) subjects preferably Social Science or Arts subjects.
3). IBADAN requires Biology/Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry, Further Mathematics, or Geography.
4). ABU requires Use of Biology, English, Geography, and any other science subject (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics, and Agricultural Science).
5). UMYUK requires Geography and any other two (2) Science subjects. For Social Science, they require Geography and any other two (2) Social Science subjects.
6). KASU requires Geography and any two other Science subjects that may include Agricultural Science.

DIRECT ENTRY ADMISSION REQUIREMENT FOR GEOGRAPHY

Those who don’t intend to apply for this course through UTME should ensure they meet the Direct Entry admission requirement for Geography which includes the following:

  • Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Geography and any one (1) other science subjects.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

1). GOUU accepts NCE in Geography.
2). BAYERO does not accept Economics.
3). GSU accepts Government and Economics.
4). KUST accepts NCE/ND/IJMB for Direct Entry in Geography.
5). MINNA accepts Geography and Mathematics/Physics preferred.
6). MINNA accepts NCE merit, HND (lower credit)/ND (upper), or Meteorology.
7). UMYUK accepts a minimum of 9 points in NCE/GCE ‘A’ Level/HSC/IJMB in relevant subjects. All candidates must have Geography.

8). UNN accepts the following:
i). Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Geography and any one (1) of Agricultural Science, Economics, History, Geology, and Biology, Literature in English, Physics or Chemistry.
ii).  NCE merit in Geography, ND (lower credit) in Surveying, Town Planning, Tropical Science or Environmental Management, in addition to four (4) ‘O’ Level credit passes which must include English Language and at least an ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics.

IBADAN accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level subjects which must include Geography and any other Science subject for Geography.

5). OAU requires credit passes in Geography, Mathematics, and anyone (1) of the following subjects: Economics, Government, Physics, Biology, or Chemistry.

6). ILORIN requires an ‘O’ level credit pass in Mathematics.

7). UNIBADAN requires 5/6 ‘O’ level credit passes at one or two sittings. The subjects must include Geography, English Language, and any three (3) Arts or S/Science subjects with at least a pass in Mathematics.

8). OAU accepts credit in Geography, English, and any three (3) other subjects.

9). OAU and BSU require an ‘O’ level credit pass in Mathematics.

10). UI requires 5/6 ‘O’ level credit passes at one or two sittings which must include Geography, English Language,  and any three (3) Arts or S/Science subjects with at least a pass in Mathematics.

11). UNN accepts Five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include Geography, English Language, and any three (3) subjects and at least a pass in Mathematics.

Direct Entry Admission Requirements For Geography

5). UNILAG accepts the following:
i). Very good passes in three (3) JUPEB/A-LEVEL subjects to include Geography and any two (2) of Economics, Chemistry, Biology, Government, and Physics.
ii). Two (2) Cambridge A/Level passes in Geography and one (1) of the following: Government, Economics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and Physics.
iii). Candidates must also satisfy the O/Level requirement.

6). KWASU accepts IJMB and two (2) A’ level papers in relevant subjects.

7). UDU accepts NCE (merit level) in Geography and ND (at least lower credit) in Town Surveying, Planning, Environmental Management or Tropical Science plus at least 4 ‘O’ level credits to include English and at least a pass in Mathematics.

8). NDU accepts the following:
