O’LEVEL SUBJECTS AND REQUIREMENTS [UTME]

Below are the O’Level (NECO, GCE, WAEC) subjects and requirements for UTME candidates that want to study Geography under the faculty of Sciences. They are expected to have at least five (5)SSC credit passes which must include:
1). Geography.
2). Mathematics.
3). English Language.
4). And any other two (2) Science subjects.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

Below are some of the other requirements needed by some of the Universities listed above.

1). ABSU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, and any other three (3) subjects from Arts, Social Sciences, and Sciences.  An ‘O’ Level credit pass in Geography is compulsory.

2). ABU requires at least five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include Mathematics, English Language, Biology, Geography, and any other Science subject.

3). KASU accepts Five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes which must include English Language, Geography, Mathematics, and two (2) other Science subjects.

4). MINNA requires ‘O’ Level credit passes to include Mathematics, English Language, Geography, Physics, and anyone (1) of Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science, Government, or Economics.

5). OOU requires two (2) other Science subjects.

6). KASU only accepts Physics, Chemistry, or Biology as the other two (2) Science subjects.

7). IBADAN requires five (5) or six (6) ‘O’ Level credit passes at one (1) or two (2) sittings and it must include Geography, Mathematics, English Language, and any two (2) other Science subjects.

8). UNN requires at least five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include Geography, English Language, and any three (3) Arts or Social Science subjects and at least an ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics.

9). GSU accepts Economics.

10). GOUU requires two (2) other subjects from Arts or Social Sciences.

11). UMYUK offers two options:
Social Science Option– five (5) ‘ O’ level credit passes or its equivalent in Mathematics, English Language, Geography, and any two (2) of Economics, Government, Accounting, and Commerce.
Science Option– five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes or its equivalent in Geography, Mathematics, English Language, and any two (2) of Physics, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, and Biology.

JAMB UTME SUBJECT COMBINATION FOR GEOGRAPHY

Below you will find the JAMB UTME subject combination required for GEOGRAPHY under the faculty of Sciences.

1). English Language(Compulsory for all Courses).
2). Geography.
3). Any two (2) of Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science, and Physics.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

1). ABU requires Biology, Geography, and any other Science subject.
2). UNN requires Geography and any two (2) subjects preferably Social Science or Arts subjects.
3). IBADAN requires Biology/Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry, Further Mathematics, or Geography.
4). ABU requires Use of Biology, English, Geography, and any other science subject (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics, and Agricultural Science).
5). UMYUK requires Geography and any other two (2) Science subjects. For Social Science, they require Geography and any other two (2) Social Science subjects.
6). KASU requires Geography and any two other Science subjects that may include Agricultural Science.

DIRECT ENTRY ADMISSION REQUIREMENT FOR GEOGRAPHY

Those who don’t intend to apply for this course through UTME should ensure they meet the Direct Entry admission requirement for Geography which includes the following:

• Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Geography and any one (1) other science subjects.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

1). GOUU accepts NCE in Geography.
2). BAYERO does not accept Economics.
3). GSU accepts Government and Economics.
4). KUST accepts NCE/ND/IJMB for Direct Entry in Geography.
5). MINNA accepts Geography and Mathematics/Physics preferred.
6). MINNA accepts NCE merit, HND (lower credit)/ND (upper), or Meteorology.
7). UMYUK accepts a minimum of 9 points in NCE/GCE ‘A’ Level/HSC/IJMB in relevant subjects. All candidates must have Geography.

8). UNN accepts the following:
i). Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Geography and any one (1) of Agricultural Science, Economics, History, Geology, and Biology, Literature in English, Physics or Chemistry.
ii).  NCE merit in Geography, ND (lower credit) in Surveying, Town Planning, Tropical Science or Environmental Management, in addition to four (4) ‘O’ Level credit passes which must include English Language and at least an ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics.

IBADAN accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level subjects which must include Geography and any other Science subject for Geography.
i).  ABU accepts Two (2) ‘A’ level/IJMB passes to include Geography and any other science subject (Physics, Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry, Economics, and Agricultural Science) in addition to O/L requirements.
ii).  KASU accepts Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Geography and any one (1) of Physics, Economics, Biology, and Chemistry. NCE/ND/HND Geography (Lower Credit) plus ‘O’ Level requirements and IJMB with minimum of 7 Points.

O’LEVEL SUBJECTS AND REQUIREMENTS FOR GEOGRAPHY

Below you will find the O’Level (NECO, GCE, WAEC) subjects and requirements for UTME candidates who want to study Geography under the faculty of Social & Management Sciences. They are expected to have at least five (5)SSC credit passes which must include:

4). Any two (2) subjects from Arts or Social Sciences.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

1). UI accepts candidates who don’t offer Geography at UTME but has ‘O’ level credits in the subject.

2). OAU and BSU require an ‘O’ level credit pass in Mathematics.

3). OAU accepts credit in Geography, English, and any three (3) other subjects.

4). BAYERO requires Geography and at least one (1) other Social Science subject.

5). OAU requires credit passes in Geography, Mathematics, and anyone (1) of the following subjects: Economics, Government, Physics, Biology, or Chemistry.

6). ILORIN requires an ‘O’ level credit pass in Mathematics.

7). UNIBADAN requires 5/6 ‘O’ level credit passes at one or two sittings. The subjects must include Geography, English Language, and any three (3) Arts or S/Science subjects with at least a pass in Mathematics.

8). OAU accepts credit in Geography, English, and any three (3) other subjects.

9). OAU and BSU require an ‘O’ level credit pass in Mathematics.

10). UI requires 5/6 ‘O’ level credit passes at one or two sittings which must include Geography, English Language,  and any three (3) Arts or S/Science subjects with at least a pass in Mathematics.

11). UNN accepts Five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include Geography, English Language, and any three (3) subjects and at least a pass in Mathematics.

12). BAYERO requires Geography and at least one (1) other Social Science subject.

13). UNIABUJA accepts five (5) credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in Mathematics, Geography, English, and any two (2) of Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Government, and Biology/ Agricultural Science.

14). UNILAGOS requires credit passes in Geography and any two (2) from Science or Social Science.

15). five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Geography, and any two (2) from Arts or Social Science subjects.

17). KSU requires credit passes in Geography, Mathematics, English Language, and two (2) other relevant subjects in either Social Sciences or Natural Sciences.

18). NDU requires five (5) O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Geography, and any two (2) from Arts, Social Science or Science subjects in not more than two (2) sittings.

19). NDU and TSUJ require five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, Geography, English Language, and any two (2) from Arts or Social Science subjects

20). KWASU requires credit passes in Geography, Mathematics, English, and any other two (2) science or social science subjects and one (1) science subject preferably physics, chemistry or technical Drawing.

21). ABSU requires credit passes in Geography, English Language, and any three (3) of Government, History, Economics, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, and Agric Science & Chemistry.

22). NDA requires credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Geography and two (2) other subjects from Economics, Commerce, History, Arabic, French, Government, and Accounts.

23). UNIOSUN requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Geography and any two (2) relevant Science, Social Science or Humanities subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.

JAMB UTME SUBJECTS COMBINATION FOR GEOGRAPHY

Below you will find the four (4) JAMB UTME subject combination required for GEOGRAPHY under the faculty of Social & Management Sciences.

1). English Language (Compulsory for all Courses).
2). Geography.
3). And two (2) other Arts or Social Science subjects.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

1). OAU and UNN require Geography and any two (2) subjects. OAU also requires Mathematics.
2). NDU requires Mathematics in the combination of UTME subjects.
3). UNIABUJA requires Geography and any other two (2) of Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Agricultural Science or Government or Economics.
4). TSUJ accepts two (2) other subjects from Government, Economics, Biology, History, and other Science subjects.
5). UNILAGOS requires Geography and any two (2) from Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Government, Mathematics, and Economics. (Commerce and core Arts subjects are not accepted).
6). KWASU requires Government, Mathematics, and any other Arts or Social Science subject.

Direct Entry Admission Requirements For Geography

Below are the requirements for direct entry candidates who want to study Geography with the use of UTME. They are required to have:

• Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Geography and any one (1) of Chemistry, Government, Economics., Physics, Mathematics, Biology.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

1). UNIMAID accepts HND/ND in relevant fields.

2). BAYERO accepts ‘A’ level passes or NCE in Geography and any other Science or Social Science subject.

3). IBADAN requires Two (2) A’ level passes in Geography and any one (1) of Economics, History or Government.

4). BSU requires a credit pass in Mathematics.

5). UNILAG accepts the following:
i). Very good passes in three (3) JUPEB/A-LEVEL subjects to include Geography and any two (2) of Economics, Chemistry, Biology, Government, and Physics.
ii). Two (2) Cambridge A/Level passes in Geography and one (1) of the following: Government, Economics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and Physics.
iii). Candidates must also satisfy the O/Level requirement.

6). KWASU accepts IJMB and two (2) A’ level papers in relevant subjects.

7). UDU accepts NCE (merit level) in Geography and ND (at least lower credit) in Town Surveying, Planning, Environmental Management or Tropical Science plus at least 4 ‘O’ level credits to include English and at least a pass in Mathematics.

8). NDU accepts the following:
i). ‘A’ level passes in Geography and any one (1) other subjects from Arts, Social Sciences or Pure Science.
ii). N.C.E. with credit passes in Geography and one (1) teaching subject from Arts, Social Sciences or Pure Science.
iii). ND (Upper Credit level) in Urban/Regional Planning or Environmental Science.

9). UNIOSUN accepts ND in Geology, Surveying, Civil Engineering or Urban and Regional Planning with NCE in Geography combination with at least a lower credit.

10). BAYERO does not accept ‘A’ level passes below grade D and NCE below grade C. They also require Geography in addition to any two (2) Social Science subjects.

11). UNN accepts the following:
i). Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Geography and any one (1) of History, Economics, Agric Science, Lit. In English, Geology, Biology, Physics or Chemistry.
ii). NCE (Merit level) in Geography and ND (at least Merit) in Surveying, Town Planning, Tropical Science or Environmental Management in addition to the UTME requirement.

12). UNIABUJA accepts two (2) A’ level credit passes in Geography and any other Science subject. Government or Economics. ND (upper credit) in Town planning, Surveying, or Environmental management.

13). TSUJ in addition to O’ level requirement:
i). Requires Three (3) A’ level passes which must include Geography.
ii). Accepts NCE (merit) and ND/HND (credit) in relevant fields such as Cartography, Land Surveying, Town Planning, Estate Management, Architecture, and Environment Science.
