O’Level Subjects and Requirements for Civil Law

As a UTME candidate who wants to study civil law in any of the Nigerian Universities listed below, you are required to have not less than five (5) SSC credit passes in the required O’Level subjects listed below:

NECO, GCE, WAEC Subject Combination for Civil Law:

1). Literature in English.

2). English Language.

3). Mathematics.

4). And any two (2) Arts or Social Science Subject.

WAIVER/SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

1). OOU requires at least an ‘O’ level pass in Mathematics and an ‘O’ level credit pass in Literature in English.

2). ABU requires Literature in English and any other Social Science or Arts subjects.

3). EBSU requires any two (2) Social Science or Arts subjects.

JAMB Subject Combination for Civil Law

There are three (3) subjects which you are expected to see in your JAMB UTME examination for Common and Islamic Law in which you are required to score at least 180 if you want to study the course in any Nigerian University offering the course.

JAMB Subjects for Civil Law:

  • Any three (3) Arts or Social Science subjects.

WAIVER/SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

  • OOU doesn’t insist on Literature in English.
  • ABU requires Literature in English and any other Social Science or Arts subjects.
  • EBSU requires Literature in English in addition to either History, Government, CRS, or Economics.

Direct Entry Admission Requirement for Civil Law

If you want to apply for admission to study Civil Law in any Nigerian University mentioned on this page without UTME, then you must ensure that you satisfy the Civil Law Admission requirements for Direct Entry candidates.

  • ND/NCE/First Degree (Second Class Lower).
  • Two (2) A-Level passes in Social Science or Arts subjects.

WAIVER/SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

A). UNICAL requires:
i). They don’t accept any NCE/Diploma.
ii). They accept first-degree second-class lower in Social Science or Arts.
iii). They also accept two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Social Science or Arts subjects in one sitting.

B). ABU accepts two (2) IJMB Passes/‘A’  Level in Literature-in-English and any other 2 Arts  or  Social science
subjects.

C). UNIZIK accepts:
i). NCE/Degree in addition to the UTME requirements.
ii). Distinction aggregates or HND with credits from a recognized institution in addition to at least 5 ‘O’ level credit passes in the following: Mathematics, English Language, and/ or any other science subject.

D). UNIMAID requires 2 ‘A’ level passes from Literature-in-English, Religious Studies, and Government.

E). OOU accepts a degree in Social Sciences or Arts not lower than a second class lower in addition to the  basic UTME requirements

F). EBSU accepts
i). ND and HND with a minimum of upper credit which must be from relevant programs.
ii). degree, ND or NCE in Social Science or Arts subjects in addition to the UTME requirements.
