In most Universities, it is studied under the faculty of Administration, while in others, it’s under Social & Management Sciences. - ABU (AHMADU BELLO UNIVERSITY, ZARIA, KADUNA STATE).
- EKSU (EKITI STATE UNIVERSITY, ADO-EKITI, EKITI STATE).
- REDEEMERS UNIVERSITY, OSUN STATE.
- UNIVERSITY OF JOS, JOS, PLATEAU STATE.
- LASU (UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS, LAGOS STATE).

O’Level Subjects & Requirements
UTME candidates who want to study Insurance under the faculty of Administration in any of the Universities listed above should meet the following requirements. Candidates are expected to have at least five (5) SSC credit passes which must include the following O’Level (NECO, GCE, WAEC) subjects for Insurance listed below:
1). Economics.
2). English Language.
3). Mathematics.
4). In addition to any two (2) of Business Methods, Accounting, Government, Commerce, Statistics, and Geography.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SCHOOLS
1). UNILAG requires ‘O’ level credit passes in Economics, Mathematics, English Language, and any two (2) of Data Processing, Financial Accounting, CRS/IS, Geography, Further Mathematics, Government, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Civic Education, Commerce, and Insurance.
2). ABU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes which must include Economics, Mathematics, English Language, and any other two (2) Subjects.
3). NDU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, Economics, English, and any other two (2) subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.
JAMB Subject Combination For Insurance
To be qualified to gain admission to study Insurance, UTME candidates are expected to score at least 180. Also, note that in UTME, English Language is a mandatory subject for all courses. Below are the remaining three (3) JAMB UTME subject combinations for Insurance under the faculty of Administration:
1). Mathematics.

Insurance Requirements For Direct Entry Candidates
Below are the requirements that Direct Entry candidates are required to meet to be qualified to apply for admission to study Insurance. Direct Entry candidates are required to have:
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes chosen from Accounts, Economics, Government, Business Management, Statistics, or Geography.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SCHOOLS
1). UNILAG accepts very good passes in three (3) ’A’ Level/JUPEB subjects taken from any of Government, Financial Accounting, Geography, Economics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Business Management/Business Studies.
2). ABU accepts Two (2) ‘A’ Level / IJMB passes in Management/Social Science Subjects one of which must be Economics. They also accept A Merit in ABU Diploma in Insurance, Banking, Accounting, or Management.
3). UNIJOS accepts the following:
i). Holders of HSC, GCE ‘A’ level, IJMB with passes in two (2) relevant Social Science subjects.
ii). Candidates with ND (lower credit) in Business Administration, Accounting, Purchasing and Supply, Marketing, and other closely related programs may also be considered only if such candidate meets the ‘O’ level credit passes requirements.
