O’Level Subjects & Requirements
As a UTME candidate applying for Agricultural Economics and Extension in any Nigerian University, you are expected to have not less than five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
1). Biology/Agricultural Science.
2). English Language.
3). Mathematics.
4). Chemistry.
5). And one of Geography, Physics, and Economics.
NOTE: The O’Level subject Combination applies to NECO, GCE, WAEC, and their equivalent.
WAIVER/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1). OOU and EBSU require ‘O’ level credit in Physics.
2). UNIBEN accepts Further Mathematics and Statistics. They also require at least an ‘O’ level pass in Physics as well as an ‘O’level pass in Biology for applying candidates with ‘O’ level credit in Agricultural Science.
3). FUNAAB requires
i). At least ‘O’ level pass in Physics.
ii). ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics.
iii). Candidates who have an ‘O’ level pass in Biology must also have an ‘O’ level credit pass in Agricultural Science. They don’t accept Agricultural Science instead of Biology.
4). DELSU accepts ‘O’ level pass in the English Language.
5). MOUA and FUAM accept ‘O’ level pass in Physics.
6). LANDMARK requires ‘O’ level credit passes in Biology/Agricultural Science, Mathematics, English Language, and Chemistry with an ‘O’ level pass in Physics. N.B. an ‘O’ level credit pass in Agricultural Science must also be backed with an ‘O’ level pass in Biology.
7). OAU doesn’t accept ‘O’ level credit passes in Economics and Geography.
8). LAUTECH accepts Biology/Agricultural Science, English Language, Chemistry, and any one of Physics/Geography/ Economics.
9). UNIOSUN requires 5 ‘O’ level credit passes in the SSC or its equivalent but it must be more than two (2) sittings plus the UTME requirements.
10). UNN accepts 5 ‘O ’level credit passes in the following subjects; Biology/or Agricultural Science, English Language, Chemistry, and either Physics or Mathematics.
11). UNIOSUN same as in Fisheries.
12). MOUA requires 5 ‘O’ level credit passes at not more than 2 sittings and they must include Chemistry, English Language, Biology or Agricultural Science, Mathematics, and one other Science subject. Note that credit in Agric. Science must be backed up with an equivalent ‘O’ level pass in Biology
13). FUTO accepts 5 SSC credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Economics, and Chemistry. They also accept the ‘O’ level pass in Physics, though at not more than 2 sittings.

JAMB Subjects to Study Agricultural Economics & Extension
There are 3 compulsory O’Level subjects you will meet in your JAMB UTME examination. Also, you are expected to score up to 180 (JAMB cut-off Mark for Agricultural Economics & Extension for Universities) in the JAMB examination.
We advise you to aim for 200 and above to stand a better chance of being admitted on merit. Below is the required JAMB Subject combination for Agricultural Economics & Extension for Universities:
1). Biology/ Agricultural Science.
2). Chemistry.
3). Mathematics or Physics.
WAIVER/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
i). LANDMARK requires Physics/Mathematics, Chemistry, and any one of Agricultural Science, Biology, or Geography.
ii). OOU requires Chemistry and any 2 of Mathematics, Physics, Agricultural Science, Geography, and Biology.
Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates
If you are applying to study Agricultural Economics and Extension without UTME, then you must ensure that you satisfy the Direct Entry requirements for Agricultural Economics and Extension below:
- Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and one in Botany/Zoology/Biology/Agricultural Science, Physics, Geography, Mathematics, Geology, Health Science, and Economics.
WAIVER/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1). UNICAL accepts;
i). HND, NCE/ND merit but doesn’t accept IJMB and accepts at least an ‘O’ level pass in Physics.
ii). Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in any of Chemistry, Botany/Biology/Agricultural Science/Zoology/Geography//Geology, Mathematics, and Economics.
2). BSU and EKSU accept ‘O’ level pass in Physics.
3). MAUTECH accepts the following:
i). ND in Agriculture in addition to ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry.
ii). GCE `A’ Level passes in Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry.
iii). IJMB with 7 points in Biology/Agricultural Science, Mathematics, or Chemistry.
iv). HND with plus ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry & Biology/Agricultural Science.
4). ABSU accepts HND/ND at credit level.
5). LAUTECH accepts ND (upper credit)/NCE/HND at credit level in relevant subjects in addition to the UTME requirements.
6). TASU accepts the following plus UTME requirements:
i). NCE merit and ND lower credit.
ii). NCE Distinction and HND (upper credit).
iii). ‘A’ level passes to include Chemistry and any of Agricultural Science, Economics and Biology.
7). UYO accepts HND (lower credit)/ND (upper credit), and NCE merit in relevant programs in addition to UTME requirements.
8). HND and ND with a minimum of upper credit in relevant programs or EBSU accept NCE with minimum merit passes in relevant subjects.
9). FUTA accepts:
i). ‘A’ level passes in any 2 of the following Biology, Mathematics, and Chemistry. Or ND or equivalent professional qualifications at upper credit.
10). RSUST accepts HND/ND (upper credit), and NCE at credit level in relevant subjects in addition to UTME requirements at 200 level.
