UTME and Direct Entry Admission Requirements For Science Laboratory Technology

O’Level Subjects & Requirements

One of the most important factors to put into consideration before you forge ahead to with your UTME/Direct Entry registration. You are required to have at least five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following O’level subjects:

1). English Language.
2). Mathematics.
3). Chemistry.
4). Biology.
5). Physics.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION AND REMARKS

i). UNIBEN requires the five O’ level credit passes to include Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language, and any two (2) of Biology, Agricultural Science, Geography, and Physics, depending on the option chosen by the candidate. For candidates opting for Physic/Electronics, Physiology/Pharmacology Techniques and Petrochemical Geology must have credit in Physics.

JAMB Subject Combination For Science Laboratory Technology

All UTME candidates should note that English Language is a compulsory subject in their JAMB UTME. Below are the remaining three (3) subjects required for UTME candidates to study Science Laboratory Technology:

1). Biology.
2). Chemistry.
3). And either Physics or Mathematics.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

i). UNIPORT for Science Laboratory Technology the following:
ia). Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry for Geology and Mining Technology, Industrial and Petrochemical Technology, Physics with Production Technology, and Physics with Electronic Technology options.
ib). Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics for Biomedical Technology and Microbiology technology, Biochemistry and Chemistry Technology options.

Direct Entry Admission Requirements

This section only for candidates who don’t intend to use UTME to apply for admission. They are required to meet the Direct Entry admission requirements for Science Laboratory Technology which is below.

Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and any one (1) from Zoology, Biology, or Botany.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION AND REMARKS

i). UNIPORT – Don’t offer Direct Entry Admission for this course.
ii). UNIBEN for Science Laboratory Technology may accept at least two (2) advanced level passes in the Higher School Certificate (HSC) or General Certificate of Education (G.C.E.) or its recognized equivalents in addition to UTME requirements at not more than two sittings. The subjects should be of the Sciences.
