O’LEVEL SUBJECTS & REQUIREMENTS FOR STATISTICS

UTME candidates are required to have at least five (5) SSC credit passes which should include the following O’Level (NECO, GCE, WAEC) subjects required for Statistics:

1). Mathematics.
2). English Language.
3). Any three (3) subjects from Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Further Geography, and Economics.

UNIVERSITY SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

  • AAU and UNIZIK accept ‘O’ Level pass in English Language.
  • BIU accepts any Science subject in addition to Physics and Mathematics.
  • UNN requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes which must include Mathematics, English Language, and two (2) subjects from Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, and Geography.
  • UMUDIKE requires the same as in Mathematics.
  • ABSU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes which must include Mathematics, English Language, and any three (3) of Chemistry, Physics, Economics, Biology, Additional Mathematics, and Geography.
  • IMSU requires ‘O’ Level credit pass in Physics and accepts ‘O’ Level pass in English Language.
  • IBADAN does not regard and does not accept Economics as a Science Subject.
  • IBADAN requires five (5) or six (6) ‘O’ Level credit passes which must include Mathematics, English Language, and any other three (3) Science subjects at one(1) or two (2) sittings.
  • UNIPORT requires Physics, Chemistry, and any one (1) of Biology, Economics, or Geography.
  • BAUCHI and OAU do not accept Geography and Economics.
  • UMUDIKE requires ‘O’ Level credit passes in Mathematics/Physics, Biology, and Chemistry.
  • RENAISSANCE requires Further Mathematics.
  • AAU requires subjects listed for the UTME in addition to Mathematics and English Language.
  • KWARARAFA requires an ‘O’ Level credit pass in Physics.
  • FUNAAB requires Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.  The University does not accept Economics as a UTME subject.
  • ABU requires Five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in Physics, English Language, Mathematics, and two (2) other subjects two (2) of which must be sciences (Chemistry, Computer Science, Biology, and Geography).
  • EKSU does not accept NCE for Direct Entry.
  • UNICAL requires candidates must have ‘O’/level credit passes in Physics, Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry in addition to the general entry requirements. Having an ‘O’ Level credit pass in Further Mathematics will be an advantage.
  • FUTA requires Physics, Mathematics, and anyone (1) of Geography, Economics, Biology, and Chemistry.
  • ABSU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, and any three (3) of Chemistry, Physics, Economics, Geography, Biology, and Additional Mathematics.
  • AUE requires three (3) other ‘O’ Level credit passes from Biology or Agricultural Science, Physics, and Chemistry.
  • FED-WUKARI requires the Same as in Physics.
  • KSUSTA does not accept Further Mathematics and Statistics.
  • LAUTECH and FED-LAFIA require five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry.
  • FUTO requires at least five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in Physics, Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, and any other Science subject in not more than two (2) sittings. They also require at least a Pass in Biology.
  • MAKURDI requires the Same as in Computer Science/Mathematics.
  • MAUTY requires Five (5) SSC credit passes to include Mathematics, English Language, and at least three (3) subjects from Statistics, Physics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Economics/Commerce, and Agric Science/Biology,  Geography, Computer Studies/IT/ Data Processing.
  • MINNA requires at least five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes which must include Mathematics, English Language, and Physics with any two (2) of Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Economics, Technical Drawing, Biology/Agricultural Science.
  • EUI requires the same as in Mathematics.
  • BAYERO requires five (5) SSCE credit passes which must include Mathematics, English Language, and two (2) from the following; Chemistry, Physics, Geography, and Biology/Agricultural Science.
  • ILORIN requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes which must include Mathematics, English Language, and at least two (2) subjects from Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, and Economics.
  • FED-WUKARI requires Candidates to obtain at least five (5) Credits at not more than two (2) sittings including Physics/Chemistry, English Language, Mathematics, and any one of the following: Further Mathematics, Biology, Technical Drawing, Geography, Animal Husbandry/Agricultural Science/Fisheries obtained from Senior School Certificate(SSCE), National Business and Technical Board (NABTEB), National Examination Council (NECO), or it’s equivalent.
  • LAGOS requires at least five O/Level credit passes in Further Mathematics, English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and any one of Chemistry, Geography, and Economics.
  • FED-KASHERE requires five (5) credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and any Further Mathematics, Biology, and Geography.
  • KASU accepts Five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include Mathematics, English Language, Physics, and two (2) other science subjects.

UTME candidates should be informed that English Language(*), is a compulsory subject for all courses. So, below are the remaining three (3) JAMB subjects required to study Statistics:

1). Mathematics.
2). Any two (2) of Chemistry, Physics, and Economics.

UNIVERSITY SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

  • IBADAN and OAU both do not accept Economics.
  • KUST, BIU, and BOWEN accept Mathematics and any two (2) of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • IBADAN requires Mathematics and any two (2) Science subjects.
  • IMSU requires Physics and Mathematics as compulsory.
  • ILORIN requires Mathematics and any two (2) of Geography, Physics, Chemistry, and Economics.
  • PHC does not accept Geography.
  • UDU accepts Mathematics and any two (2) of Biology, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, and Geography.
  • ABU requires Mathematics, Use of English, and any two (2) of Geography, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.
  • UNN requires Physics, Mathematics/Chemistry/Geography/ Economics/Biology.
  • FUTA requires Mathematics, Physics, and any one (1) of Geography, Chemistry, Biology, or Economics.
  • FED-LAFIA, LAUTECH, and FUNAAB require Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry.
  • NILE requires the same as in Computer Science.
  • ABU requires Mathematics and any two (2) of Chemistry, Geography, Physics, and Biology.
  • UNIBEN requires Economics, Mathematics, and any other Science subject.
  • MAKURDI also requires the same as in Computer Science/Mathematics.
  • UNIABUJA accepts Geography and Biology.
  • BAUCHI accepts Agricultural Science in place of Biology.
  • MAUTY requires Mathematics and any two (2) of Economics, Physics, Biology/Agric Science, Chemistry, and Geography.
  • MINNA requires Physics, Mathematics, and any Geography, Chemistry, or Economics.
  • BSU requires Physics, Mathematics, and any Biology or Chemistry.
  • BAYERO requires Physics, Mathematics, and any Geography, Chemistry, and Biology/Agricultural Science.
  • FUTO requires Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry.
  • KASU requires Physics, Mathematics, and one other Science subject.
  • FED-WUKARI requires Mathematics and any two (2) of Economics, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.
  • LAGOS requires Physics, Mathematics, English Language, and any Geography, Chemistry, Economics, and Biology.
  • FED-KASHERE requires Mathematics, Physics, and Biology or Chemistry.

DIRECT ENTRY ADMISSION REQUIREMENT FOR STATISTICS

Candidates who want to apply for a Direct Entry Admission to study Statistics, should ensure they can meet the requirements listed below:

  • Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes to include Mathematics or Statistics.
  • NCE credit in relevant subjects.

UNIVERSITY SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

1). UNIUYO accepts ND (upper credit), HND (lower credit), and NCE (merit) in relevant programs/subjects in addition to the UTME requirements.

2). IBADAN  accepts the following:
i).  Two (2) ‘A’ Level subjects which must include Mathematics in addition to five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language.

3). OAU requires Chemistry or Physics in addition to Mathematics.

4). ILORIN accepts the following;
i). Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Physics and Mathematics, Chemistry, Geography, or Economics. From JUPEP, IJMB or its equivalent.
ii). National Diploma (ND) in Statistics with a minimum of Lower Credits.
iii). NCE in Mathematics and any Physics, Chemistry, Economics, or Geography.

5). UNIJOS does not accept a Diploma in Computer Science.

6). RHEMA accepts ND in Statistics or NCE merit in Mathematics.

7). ABSU -No Direct Entry.

8). FUTA accepts the following:
i). ND in Statistics with a minimum of Upper Credit or equivalent from any recognized Polytechnic or College of Technology; or
ii). GCE ‘A’ Level or equivalent with passes in Mathematics and at least one (1) of the following subjects: Biology, Economics, Physics, Geography, or Chemistry and at a minimum of grade C.

9). FUTO requires the following;
i). At least two (2) ‘A’ level passes not below Grade C in Physics and Mathematics.
ii). ND/HND (Upper Credit level) in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, Geology, Computer Science, or  Engineering.
iii). First Degree in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Geology, Computer Science, or  Engineering.
iv). Very good passes in three (3) JUPEB subjects namely Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics. It does not accept NCE. Also, candidates must, in addition, meet the ‘O’ Level requirements.

10). BIU accepts NCE credit in Physics and other related subjects.

11). FUNAAB accepts the following:
i).  ND (upper credit) in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or any related programs.
ii). NCE credit in relevant subjects in addition to the UTME requirements.
iii). Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Mathematics, Statistics, and Physics.

12). KUST accepts HND/ND in Statistics or relevant programs.

13). WESLEYUNI is the same as in Mathematics.

14). UNIBEN in addition to the UTME requirements may consider the following:
a). Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in any of the recognized equivalents by the Senate of the University of Benin at not more than two (2) sittings. The subjects should include Mathematics/Statistics and any other Science or relevant Social Science subjects, Accounting, Economics, Geography, Business Studies.
b). ND (upper credit) in Statistics/Mathematics and other Science or relevant Social Science subjects in B (i) above from any recognized Polytechnic or Colleges of Technology by the Senate of the University of Benin.
c). ND/HND lower credit as in B (iv) above.
d). NCE merit in Statistics/Mathematics and other Science or relevant Social Science subjects from a recognized College of Education by the Senate of the University of Benin (UNIBEN). In addition, candidates should have an overall merit grade.

15). UNIABUJA accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Mathematics and either Chemistry and/or Physics OR NCE (minimum 10 points) with credit in Mathematics and another Science subject OR ND (upper credit) in Computer science, Mathematics, or Statistics.

16). UNN accepts the following:
i). Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes to include Statistics or Mathematics in addition to the UTME requirements.
ii). NCE credit in relevant subjects in addition to the UTME requirement.
iii). UNN accepts ND (upper credit), HND (lower credit), and NCE (merit) in relevant programs/subjects in addition to the UTME requirements.

17). IMSU accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes which must include Statistics/Mathematics, ND in Statistics from a recognized institution.

18). NILE accepts the same as in Computer Science.

19). MAUTY accepts IJMB/ Two (2) A-level credit passes in Mathematics and any one of chemistry, physics, Statistics, Geography, or Economics. NCE/HND/ND at credit level in Computer science, Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or Statistics.

20). MAKURDI requires the same as in Computer Science/Mathematics.

21). MCPHERSON accepts the following:
i). ‘A’ Level/ND (upper credit) /HND (lower credit) or it’s equivalent in Mathematics and any one (1) of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, and Statistics.
ii). IJMB/JUPEB ‘A’ Level or equivalent in related subjects.

22). FED-KASHERE accepts an A’ Level credit passes in Mathematics and Physics.

23). KSUSTA accepts ‘A’ Level passes in relevant subjects such as Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, and Computer Science, in addition to ‘O’ Level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, and of Chemistry, Physics, Geography or Economics. It also accepts ND/HND credit in relevant programs plus the UTME requirements.

24). EUI requires the same as in Mathematics.

25). ABU accepts Two (2) IJMB/‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and any one of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, and Geography. NCE Statistics/Mathematics with any Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geology, and Geography. ND (Upper Credit) in Mathematics/Statistics in addition to O/L requirements. ABU Diploma in Mathematics with at least MERIT Grade.

26). BAYERO requires the following;
i). Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and any other science subject.
ii). NCE with at least merit in Mathematics and one of Chemistry, Physics.

27). LAUTECH accepts the following:
i). Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Mathematics and one (1) subject from Physics, Geography, Economics, Biology, and Chemistry.
ii). ND (upper credit) in Statistics from a recognized institution.
iii). NCE credit in Mathematics and any other Physical Science subject.

28). KASU accepts Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Physics and Mathematics. NCE merit in Mathematics and any Chemistry, Physics, and Statistics. ND/HND (Lower Credit) in a related field. IJMB/GCE ‘A’ Level 7 points and above plus ‘O’ Level requirements.

29). FED-WUKARI requires Direct Entry candidates to obtain at least two (2) ‘A’/Level passes in Science subjects or at GCE A/ Level IJMB/Advanced NABTEB or merit pass at NCE at least OND/HND (Lower credit) in Mathematics. Also, the Candidate must satisfy UTME admission requirements of Five (5) Credits which must include Mathematics and English Language.

30). FED-LAFIA accepts Two (2) ‘A’ level passes which must include Mathematics or Statistics. NCE credit passes in relevant subjects including NCE, HND/ND, IJMB, and Mathematics.

31). LAGOS accepts Very good passes in the following three (3) JUPEB/’A’-level subjects: Mathematics, Physics, and anyone (1) of Biology, Geography, Chemistry, and Economics and requires an ‘O’ level credit pass in Further Mathematics. It does not accept NCE.
