WAEC Subject Combination for Political Science

Please note that because it is titled WAEC Subject Combination for Political Science doesn’t mean that it is only limited to WAEC. The subject combination is also applicable to GCE and NECO as well as other equivalent SSCE.

You are required to possess five (5) O’Level credit passes in the required subjects for Political Science which are listed below:

1). Government/History.

2). Use of English Language.

3). Mathematics (At least a pass).

4). And any other TWO O’Level subjects.

WAIVER / SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

1). UNICAL  and OAU require a credit pass in Government.

2). UNICAL requires 2 Social Science subjects in addition to Government. They don’t accept History in lieu of Government.

3). EDWIN CLARK requires five (5) credit passes in the following subjects; Use of English Language, Government, Economics, and any other two subjects in addition to at least a pass in Maths.

4). UNN  and DELSU require a credit pass in Government and any 2 other subjects in addition to at least a pass in Maths. They both don’t accept History in lieu of Government.

5). ESUTECH requires five credit passes to include Mathematics, Use of English Language, Government and two (2) social science subjects.

6). GO, ABUAD, OOU, UNICAL, DELSU, OAU, EKSU, and LASU requires a credit pass in Mathematics. EKSU also accepts other Social Science subjects apart from Government.

7). EBSU accepts credit pass Mathematics and two other subjects.

8). UI requires 5 ‘O’ level credits in History/Government, Use of English Language and three (3) other subjects in addition to at least a pass in Mathematics.

9). KSU – also requires a credit pass in Mathematics.

10). AAUA accepts National Diploma in related Discipline at the Upper Credit level.

11). UNILAG requires five (5) credit passes for the following; Use of English Language, Government, and mathematics in addition to two other subjects from History, Economics, Geography, Literature in English, IRS/CRS.

12). JABU requires a pass in Mathematics.

13). ABU requires five (5) O’level credit passes in Mathematics, Use of English Language, History or Government, and any other two (2) Arts or Social Sciences subjects.

14). COVENANT same as Marketing.

15). KASU accepts credit in Mathematics.

16). BOWEN accepts 5 credit passes to include Mathematics, Government, Use of English Language and one (1) social science subject.

17). UMYUK accepts five (5) credit passes at SSCE or its equivalent in Use of English Language, Government or History, Mathematics, and any other two (2) credits in Arts/Social Science subjects which must not be more than two sittings.

18). FED-LAFIA – Same as in Sociology.

19). REDEEMER’S accepts Five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Government or History and two (2) 0ther subjects.

20). KWASU requires credit passes in Mathematics, Use of English Language, Government/History and one (1) Arts and 1 social science subject or two other social science subjects.

21). ABSU accepts Five (5) SSCE credit passes in Use of English Language, History or Government and any three (3) subjects from Arts and Social Science subject in addition to at least a pass in Mathematics.

JAMB Subject Combination for Political Science

Knowing the appropriate JAMB Subject Combination for Political Science is not all that is required, you need to ensure you meet the JAMB cut-off mark for Political Science which is 180 for Universities.

As a matter of fact, we advise that you aim for 200 and above in other to stand a better chance of being admitted into any University in Nigeria based on merit. Below is the JAMB Subject Combination for Political Science:

1). UI – requires 3 subjects in Arts, Science Social Sciences

2). LASU requires Maths.

3). BAYERO requires History or Government in addition to two other Social Science subjects.

4). UNILAG requires Government and any other 2 subjects from Geography, Economics, History, CRS/IRS, Literature in English, and Maths.

5). UNIILORIN – History or Government in addition to any two (2) of Geography, Economics, Lit in English, Mathematics, and Use of English Language.

6). AAU – Government, and Mathematics are mandatory

7). OAU accepts Government, Mathematics and any one (1) of Economics, Literature in English or Geography.

8). BOWEN accepts Government, Mathematics and any other Social Science subject.

9). EBSU requires Economics and Government.

10). ABU requires History or Government, and any two (2) of Geography, Economics, Civic Education, CRS, and Islamic Studies.

11). KWASU and ABUAD require Government and any one (1) Arts and one (1) Social Science subject or Mathematics OR two (2) Social science.

12). DELSU requires Government, one Social Science subject and any other subject.

13). AAUA accepts three (3) Social Science or Arts subjects plus Mathematics.

14). FED-LAFIA – Same as in Sociology.

Direct Entry Requirements for Political Science

If you don’t intend to gain admission using UTME, then you have to ensure that you satisfy the following Direct Entry Requirements for Political Science which are below:

• Two (2) ‘A’ level passes including History or Government.

WAIVER / SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

1). DELSU and UNIILORIN require ‘A’ level passes in Government and any Social Science subject.

2). UNIZIK accepts similar requirements as for Economics for both UTME applicants and Direct Entry. They also accept a pass in O/L Mathematics.

3). BOWEN accepts two (2) A’ level passes in Government and any one (1) of Geography, Economics, History or Mathematics.

4). UNICAL requires 3 ‘A’ level passes in Government and any one (1) of Mathematics, Economics, and Geography. They don’t accept History in lieu of Government but accept I.J.M.B.

5). OAU requires Government.

6). IBADAN and UNIZIK accept any two (2) ‘A’ level passes.

7). UNN requires a National Diploma in Public Administration at merit level in addition to UTME requirements.

8). BINGHAM accepts National Diploma in Public Administration at merit level

9). DELSU requires ND (Upper credit) from a recognized Polytechnic or degree in Social science, Arts or Law with at least Third Class honours.

10). AAUA accepts an Upper credit level in National Diploma in a related discipline.

11).  AAU requires ‘A level’ passes in Government and one social science subject which is mandatory.

12). UNILAG requires;
i). Two (2) Cambridge A/Level passes including History/Government.
ii). Very good passes in 3 JUPEB/A-LEVEL subjects: Government, and any two of CRS/IRS, Lit-in- English, Geography, Economics, History.
iii). Candidates must also be able to meet the ‘O’ Level requirements.

13). UNIJOS in addition to the ‘A’ level passes required, also requires credit passes at an ordinary level which must include History or Government, English Language.

14). ABU as in International Studies

15). SOUTHWESTERN accepts HND/ND/NCE/IJMB or its equivalents.

16). ABU accepts Three (3) ‘A’ level/IJMB passes from any of the following subjects: History, Government, Sociology, Geography, or Economics.

17). ANSU accepts NCE or ND/HND (Lower Credit) in any related Management/Social Science.

18). KWASU accepts two (2) A’ Level passes in Government and any one of Economics, History, Geography and Business methods or ND (upper credit) in Public Admin. Or Local Government or HND (Lower Credit) in Public Administration.

19). GO requires three (3) ‘A’ level passes in Government and any one (1) of Mathematics, Geography, and Economics. I.J.M.B.

20). LASU accepts a first degree in cognate or related discipline with a minimum of the second class lower division.

21). AAUA is the same as in Accounting.

22). AAU accepts two (2) ‘A’ level passes from Economics, Mathematics, Geography, and History or Government are acceptable.

23). COVENANT accepts ND (Upper credit) Public Admin in addition to UTME requirements.

24). EBSU accepts ND, NCE, and HND with a minimum of Upper Credit and Merit respectively in relevant fields.

25). NDU requires:

i). Two ‘A’ level passes in Government and any 1 of the following: History, Geography or Economics.
ii). N.C.E. at credit level in Political Science and in combination or credit passes in Local Government Administration.

26). GSU accepts NCE in relevant subjects.

27). RENAISSANCE accepts at least a pass in A’ level GCE or its equivalent in History and Government or a National Diploma.
