Below are the requirements needed to successfully proceed with your UTME/Direct Entry registration. WAEC Subjects & Requirements
Your O’Level result also decides if you are qualified to study History And International Studies. Candidates are required to have at least five (5) credits in the required NECO, GCE, or WAEC subjects needed to study History And International Studie at any University in Nigeria. Below are the five (5) required WAEC subject combination for History And International Studie:
1). Government/History.
2). Geography.
3). English Language.
4). Mathematics (At least a Pass).
5). Any other art/social science/science subject.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION FOR EACH UNIVERSITY
1). EBSU and AUE require an ‘O’ level credit pass in Mathematics.
2). AAU requires an ‘O’ level credit pass in History and ‘O’ level pass in Science subjects.
3). AAUA requires ‘O’ level credit passes in Government or History, English Language, Mathematics, and any two (2) subjects from the Social Sciences or Arts.
4). BIU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in Government/History, English Language, another Arts subject, and any two (2) Arts or Social Sciences subjects.
5). UNIOSUN, PLASU, and JOS ‘O’ level credit pass in Geography are not compulsory.
6). PHC requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes which must include Government and English Language.
7). UNIUYO requires ‘O’ level credit passes in Government or History, English Language, and any two (2) other subjects from Economics, Literature in English, French, and Geography.
8). AJAYI and BOWEN require ‘O’ level credit passes which must include English Language, Government or History, and any other three (3) subjects in Social Sciences or Arts. Geography is not compulsory.
9). ILORIN and KWASU require five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in History/Government, English Language. In addition to any other three (3) Arts or Social Science subjects.
10). CHRISTOPHER requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings. The subjects are to include History/Government and English Language.
11). UNIOSUN requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Government or History or any other social sciences and Arts subjects.
12). UNIUYO, FED-WUKARI, KSU, and DELSU – ‘O’ level credit pass in Geography is not compulsory but accept any three (3) other Social Science or Arts subjects.
13). NDU requires five (5) ’O’level credit passes in History or Government, English Language, and any other three (3) subjects, two (2) of which must be Arts subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.
14). JABU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in Government or History and any other Arts or Social Science subjects including an ‘O’ level pass in Mathematics.
JAMB Subject Combination for History and International Studies
First of all, take note that the JAMB UTME cut-off mark for this course is 180 for Universities in Nigeria. There are four (4) compulsory subjects that you are going to fill out during your UTME registration. While English Language is compulsory for all Schools, below are the three (3) remaining JAMB subject combinations for History and International Studies:
1). History/Government.
2). And any other two (2) subjects from Arts and Social Sciences.
Direct Entry Requirements For History and International Studies
Below are some of the conditions that Direct Entry candidates must satisfy to be qualified to study History and International Studies if they don’t intend to use UTME. They require:
- Two (2) ‘A’ level passes/NCE (upper credit) in History/ Government and any other related subject.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION FOR EACH UNIVERSITY
1). AL-HIKMAH accepts two (2) ‘A’ level passes which must include Government or History and any other related subject.
2). EBSU accepts HND/ND (upper credit) or NCE merit in any relevant program.
3). AAUA accepts the following:
i). Passes in two (2) ‘A’ level subjects which must include History or Government.
ii). NCE merits in three (3) subjects including History or Government.
4). KWASU requires three (3) A’ level passes in relevant subjects.
5). AJAYI accepts NCE (merit)/ND (credit) in Government and History.
6). UNIBEN requires two (2) ‘A’ level passes in HSC or GCE or their equivalent in History/Government and any other related subject. It also accepts NCE credit pass in History, Social Studies or Government.
7). ND merit in Conflict Resolution, Administrative Management, Law, Public Administration, Mass Communication, Industrial Relations, and Social Work and Development Studies.
8). UNICAL accepts NCE credit in History/Social Studies/Government. It does not accept IJMB.
9). AJAYI accepts two (2) ‘A’ level passes or its equivalent in History or Government in addition to three (3) ‘O’ level credit passes.
10). PLASU accepts the following:
i). Degree in any field provided the candidate meets UTME requirements
ii). HND (lower credit) in a relevant program, plus UTME requirements,
iii). ND (lower credit) in a relevant program, plus UTME requirements.
iv). IJMB seven (7) points in relevant subjects, in addition to the UTME requirements.
11). UYO accepts the following:
i). ‘A’ level passes in two (2) subjects which must include Government or History.
ii). NCE merits in three (3) subjects which must include History or Government.
12). UNIOSUN requires an ‘A’ level pass in History or Government. It also accepts NCE, with a History major.
13). ILORIN accepts the following:
i). Government in place of History
ii). NCE merit in History or Government/Political Science as a major and any other Social Science or Arts subject.
iii). NCE merit in Social Studies doubles major.
14). MCPHERSON accepts the following:
i). NCE merit in History/Social Studies/Government.
ii). ND (upper credit) in Mass Communication/Journalism, Public Administration, History, English & Communication, Social Works, and Linguistics Studies.
iii). IJMB/JUPEB ‘A’ level or its equivalent in related subjects.
15). LASU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings. The subjects are to include History/Government and English Language in addition to a good performance in the ‘O’ level which should include English, History or Government.
16). CHRISTOPHER accepts ND/HND credit or NCE credit in the relevant subjects/program.
17). LASU accepts the following:
i). ‘A’ level passes in History/Government OR NCE Merit Passes in Government/History, Political Science, or Social Studies.
ii). ND (upper credit) in a related program.
