- OAU, LAGOS, and FUTA require Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
- UNICAL does not accept Biology.
- FUPRE requires Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
- FED-OYEEKITI requires Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry or Biology.
- OSUSTECH requires Mathematics, Physics, and anyone (1) of Geography, Chemistry, and Biology.
O’Level Requirement and Subject Combination for Geophysics.
All Universities in Nigeria require that each of the candidates applying to study Geophysics should possess at least five (5) SSC credit passes in the following subjects:
1). English Language
2). Physics
3). Mathematics
4). Biology/Chemistry
5). And one other trade subject.
UTME SPECIAL CONSIDERATION FOR GEOPHYSICS
1). BAUCHI – ‘O’ level credit pass in Geography will be an advantage In addition to the UTME requirements.
2). OAU requires five (5) ’O’ level credit passes in Chemistry, English Language, Physics, Further Mathematics/Biology, and Mathematics.
3). MOUNTAIN TOP requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, Chemistry, English Language, and any other two (2) subjects preferably Geography, Physics, and Biology.
4). WESLEYUNI requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics and English Language and any 3 subjects preferably Physics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Biology, and Agricultural Science.
5). FUTA accepts five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes including Mathematics, Chemistry, English Language, and Physics at not more than two (2) sittings or its equivalent.
6). LASU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry.
7). OSUSTECH requires 5 ‘O’ level credit passes in Chemistry, Biology/Geography, Physics, English Language, and Mathematics.
8). FUPRE requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes including Mathematics, Biology, English Language, Chemistry, and Physics.
9). FED-OYEEKITI accepts five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in the following subjects: Chemistry, English Language, Mathematics, and Physics.
DIRECT ENTRY ADMISSION REQUIREMENT FOR GEOPHYSICS
- ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.
DIRECT ENTRY SPECIAL CONSIDERATION FOR GEOPHYSICS
1). UNICAL – Same as for Physics.
2). OAU accepts HND upper credit in Mining Engineering, in addition, to the UTME requirements. They also require ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics.
3). OSUSTECH requires:
(a) Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Geography or Chemistry and Physics.
(b) ND distinction or credit in relevant programs.
4). LAUTECH accepts ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and Physics or ND upper credit /HND in Physics in addition to the UTME requirements may be considered for admission into 200 level.
5). FUTA may likely admit candidates to 200 level if they meet the following:
(a) Satisfied the general entry requirements for the University as specified above; and
(b) Obtained ND upper credit or equivalent in Civil and Electrical/ Electronic Engineering, Laboratory Technology Geology Option, and Mining or any other program adjudged relevant by the Department.
(c) ‘A’ level passes or equivalent in 2 of the following subjects: Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics.
6). BAUCHI requires ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and Physics. Please note that an ‘A’ level pass in Geology will be an advantage.
7). LASU accepts very good passes in the following three (3) JUPEB/A level subjects: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
8). FED-OYEEKITI requires ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
9). MOUNTAIN TOP requires Physics and Chemistry.
