Obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Chemistry can be a little bit competitive in Nigeria. Therefore knowing the prerequisites for the said course will help you easily register and apply for admission to study Applied Chemistry without mistakes.

Before we begin proper, we must inform you that Applied Chemistry is a course exclusively reserved for science students. What this means is that the course is not suitable for commercial or art students. WAEC Subjects Required for Applied Chemistry

To qualify to study Applied Chemistry, you are required to have at least five (5) SSCE credit passes in the required subjects which are listed below;

1). Mathematics,

2). English Language,

3). Biology,

4). Physics,

5). Chemistry.

NOTE: Please, note that the O’level subject combination for this course is not limited to WAEC only; It also includes NECO, GCE, and their equivalent.

JAMB UTME Subject Combination for Applied Chemistry

UTME candidates are to expect three (3) compulsory subjects for Applied Chemistry in the JAMB UTME examination. Apart from knowing the required subjects for Applied Chemistry, you are expected to score up to 180 (JAMB cut-off Mark for Applied Chemistry).

But, we urge you to aim for 200 and above to stand a better chance of being admitted based on merit. Below is the JAMB UTME Subject Combination for Applied Chemistry:

1). Chemistry.

2). And two (2) subjects from any of Mathematics, Physics, and Biology.

Direct Entry Requirements for Applied Chemistry

If you are not applying for admission to study Applied Chemistry through UTME, then you must ensure that you meet the Direct Entry Requirement for Applied Chemistry which is listed below:

1). ND/NCE with good grades in relevant O Level subjects.

2). Two (2) A-Level passes in Chemistry and any 1 of Mathematics, Biology, or Physics.
